FIDM Library

Over the weekend at ALA, someone told me my book was actually at the library of FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) over in downtown LA. Now I’ve heard of FIDM for years but have never gone by. I guess FIDM is like SCAD ? Dunno as I’ve never attend either.

So on the way back from a business meeting, I decided to stop by and check it out. First of all, I didn’t realized that you needed a pass to get in. The security guard asked if I was a student or alumni. I explain I heard my book was in their library and just wanted to check it out. He gave me the phone number and I called explaining who I was and surprise, I was in like in 10 minutes !

I had a chance to meet with Lucy (head librarian), Evan (collections coordinator) and Glenda (librarian) as you can tell from the photo above and spent about a hour there chatting about cosplay and fashion. Yes, it was surreal. Very surreal.

When asked how my book got there, it turns out it was recommend by a student and they went through whatever channels they did (they sure didn’t order it from me at the cons or through my website !) and acquired it for their collection.
So I guess if you think your library should carry Cosplay in America, you should bug them ^^
